School of Music to host celebrated international pianist Joyce Yang

The 91视频 College of Fine Arts and the School of Music welcome acclaimed pianist Joyce Yang, for a performance in Glidden Recital Hall at 7:30 p.m. Friday, June 22, as part of the school鈥檚 annual Piano Pedagogy Seminar. Open to the public, there is a suggested donation of $10 per person for this evening recital.
鈥淲e are absolutely thrilled to welcome internationally acclaimed pianist Joyce Yang to 91视频 as the featured artist for the 2018 91视频 Piano Pedagogy Seminar," said Christopher Fisher, founder and artistic director of the 91视频 Piano Pedagogy Seminar. 鈥淛oyce is an extraordinary artist who will undoubtedly deliver a powerful and deeply communicative recital. This recital is one not to be missed.鈥
This recital will feature selections by composers Grieg, Schumann, Rachmaninoff, Janacek and Liszt.
Blessed with 鈥減oetic and sensitive pianism鈥 (Washington Post) and a 鈥渨ondrous sense of color鈥 (San Francisco Classical Voice), Yang captivates audiences with her virtuosity, lyricism and interpretive sensitivity. As a Van Cliburn International Piano Competition silver medalist and Avery Fisher Career Grant recipient, Yang showcases her colorful musical personality in solo recitals and collaborations with the world鈥檚 top orchestras and chamber musicians.
Part of the University鈥檚 Piano Pedagogy Seminar, in conjunction with the OHIO Summer Music Camp, Yang鈥檚 visit includes this public recital and a master class for registered participants. The 91视频 Piano Pedagogy Seminar, June 22鈥23, provides piano teachers and students with professional enrichment opportunities through a series of energizing workshops, presentations and performances, exploring a variety of relevant and stimulating topics. Participants will have opportunities to share ideas and engage in dialogue with clinicians and with one another through round-table discussions and informal conversations.
