OHIO launches the Thriving in Academia: Early Career Faculty Learning Community

In Fall 2022, 91视频 will launch the Thriving in Academia: Early Career Faculty Learning Community (Thriving FLC) for early career OHIO faculty. The goals are to help early career faculty to explore academic career planning, research productivity skills, work-life balance strategies, and networking opportunities.

鈥淭he Thriving FLC is a new initiative for 91视频 that will utilize our institutional membership to the ,鈥 said Katie Hartman, vice provost for faculty development. 鈥淭he FLC will focus on the 10 foundational skills for every faculty member outlined by the . Some of the topics we plan to discuss are aligning time with priorities, developing a daily writing practice, cultivating a network of mentors/sponsors, and strategies for dealing with stress.鈥 

The faculty learning community is open to any full-time OHIO faculty who have been at the University for three years or less. The learning community will meet in-person once per month from September 2022 through May 2023. Participants are invited to enroll in one of two cohorts: Monday (3:05 鈥 4:25 p.m.) or Thursday (9:30 鈥 10:50 a.m.).

The faculty learning community is sponsored by the Office of the Provost and will be co-led by Ana Rosado Feger, associate professor and chair of the management department, and Hartman.

鈥淭he Thriving FLC will incorporate practical, actionable strategies that faculty can adapt to fit their needs and their goals. It will also foster relationships and community in faculty across disciplines,鈥 said Feger.
