Linguistics students build a strong foundation for careers in hearing, speech, and language sciences, bilingual education, translation and interpretation, forensic studies, cognitive science, anthropology, philosophy, and artificial intelligence.

Our students explore other countries and other cultures and learn to speak some of the world's most popular languages. We engage our students in empirical research on the nature of language, language use, and language acquisition.

Where Language, Culture & Technology Come Together

Through our curriculum and through our research, we explore the multifaceted ramifications of the interface of language, technology and culture in the areas of language teaching and learning, language sustainability, informal and professional communication, forensics, and computational linguistics.

We benefit from an alumni base around the world and global partnerships with foreign institutions. We believe that a solid understanding of linguistic theory and research is valuable not only to researchers but also to language learners and language teachers.
